The goal of Jacquie's practice is to help you reach your goals, feel more empowered, connected and aligned with your authentic self. This occurs not only by addressing anxiety, depression or other symptoms but by feeling accepted and safe. Therapy at this practice embraces a lens of body first, building capacity, addressing concerns and attuning to what brings joy into your life. This is what you will find when beginning your therapy journey with Jacquie.
Jacquie specializes in services for those experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar, life transitions, relationship difficulties and trauma. She is a kink & ethical non-monogamy friendly therapist and her practice focuses on providing support for individuals in the Trans and LGBTQIA+ community. Her approach primarily incorporates somatic based methods that focus on increasing awareness of body-mind connection.
A Nervous System approach
Nervous system education is one of the places Jacquie will start when you begin psychotherapy. Using the lens of Dr. Stephen Porges Polyvagal theory, Jacquie incorporates education very early on in treatment. Understanding the neurobiology and discovering more about your own system can be incredibly helpful. This also sets a foundation for some of the practical, daily skills you will learn during sessions to begin working with your system.
"The body has been designed to renew itself through continuous self-correction. These same principles also apply to the healing of your psyche, spirit, and soul"
Jacquie believes in giving you the tools you need to improve your day to day. These tools begin in the first session and continue as you try things, see what fits for your body and make them a part of your daily practice. We all have patterns that have developed over the course of our life: patterns of thought, movement, breath and posture (among others). Some of these patterns remain helpful while others have become less than helpful to where you are now and where you want to be.
Spoiler alert: Jacquie will work with you to befriend these patterns, understand their origins, learn from them and begin the steps necessary to begin shifting your path.
Often clients find this guidance is waiting within their body. Waiting to be heard. Are you ready to listen?
